Matt is a Managing Director with over a decade of experience in audit, accounting and transaction services with clients ranging from private to large public companies in the US, Europe and Australia. Matt specializes in standing-up the Finance function at companies under first-time institutional ownership.
With Accordion, Matt has partnered with management and sponsors to stand-up the finance & accounting function of six separate businesses, establishing a reliable 13-week cash flow model while overseeing the selection & implementation of a new ERP system, creating and implementing robust policies and procedures around core accounting cycles, performing month-end close accelerations, as well as overall merger integration leadership.
Since joining Accordion, Matt has assisted clients in reviewing their finance organization, processes, and systems in order to identify areas for remediation and enhancement and help execute on them. These included providing visibility into their order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes, enabling better control over their working capital, and cash management.
Prior to joining Accordion, Matt spent two years with PKF Germany where he worked on a range of carve-out engagements including overseeing the project management office responsible for all key business decisions between signing and closing. His other engagements included partnering with IT to develop a global shared services budgeting tool for 4,000+ employees, as well as the audit of financial statements under US GAAP, IFRS & German GAAP.
Matt has provided interim finance leadership to CEOs & Sponsors to integrate acquisitions, provide visibility into root causes of a company’s deteriorating working capital situation, and provide an extrapolated 52-week view of their cash & working capital to facilitate a debt restructuring.
His experience includes working with global companies with operations throughout South America, Europe and Asia. He has experience in several industries – including retail, healthcare, technology, software, mining, real estate and professional services.
Matt graduated from the University of Queensland in Australia, with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance and Accounting. He also is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and certified Chartered Accountant (CA).
