Responsibilities
Accordion Partners, LLC seeks Associate, Financial Accounting & Advisory Services in New York, New York. Duties include:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to serve clients in various areas of accounting matters and business processes.
- Perform complex financial analysis and modeling, and effectively communicate complex financial accounting strategies and issues with clients and managers.
- Perform accounting analysis and gain an understanding of current state processes, people, and systems in collaboration with clients.
- Identify root causes and provide recommendations on how to improve accounting/ financial processes, bridge control gaps, and better align roles and responsibilities with best practices.
- Implement financial tools and accounting solutions that the client's accounting/finance function can use to streamline close process (e.g. introduce materiality limits, close checklists, and milestones).
- Address financial changes in revenue recognition requirements and draft complex accounting policies and technical analyses.
- Analyze and communicate underlying revenue forecasts and associated cost-drivers.
- Analyze and update invoicing process to reflect business processes.
- Prepare intuitive accounting processes and controls.
- Draft a unified set of accounting policies and procedures to create consistency.
- Consolidate existing financial reporting from disparate systems, including adjusting for deviations in accounting policies and procedures, to produce a single source of numerical truth.
- Prepare financial statements, typically in connection with acquisitions, carve-outs, proposed sale, support audit readiness, etc.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or the foreign equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, or related field and 3 years of experience performing financial analysis and resolving complex accounting issues for public and/or private clients. Domestic travel required up to 10% of the time to client sites in the U.S.
Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include:
1) 3 years of experience utilizing U.S. GAAP and other applicable accounting guidelines and principles, such as IFRS;
2) 3 years of experience performing ASC 606 revenue recognition and ASC 842 lease accounting;
3) 3 years experience resolving complex accounting issues such as adoption of new accounting standards, purchase accounting, carve-outs, and significant unusual transactions;
4) 3 years of experience performing internal control reviews or assessing financial operational performance;
5) 3 years experience performing client-facing activities, including advising clients on in-depth financial accounting issues, financial initiatives, financial strategies, and alternative recommendations; and,
6) 3 years of experience utilizing Excel and PowerPoint to deliver high-quality work product and present to the client audiences.
